Norton Grounds | Chipping Norton, Cotswolds UK

It’s very exciting to feature some images from Cat and George’s gorgeous wedding at Norton Grounds in Chipping Campden! Nestled in the Cotswolds countryside, Norton Grounds is a beautiful 18th century stone farmhouse which offers the most lovely backdrop for wedding celebrations. As a documentary wedding photographer in the Cotswolds, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing at a number of beautiful Cotswolds wedding venues and Cat and George’s autumnal wedding at Norton Grounds was no exception! For more on their gorgeous wedding celebrations, read on…

The preparations at Cotswolds Wedding Venue, Norton Grounds

The morning began quietly in the farmhouse and nearby cottage at Norton Grounds, framed by a backdrop of the peaceful countryside. Norton Grounds has the great advantage of an open plan countryside layout, offering the opportunity for the wedding couple to both get ready on-site, but in sufficiently separate locations. As a documentary wedding photographer, the morning preparations are always one of my favourite parts of the day. The beginning of all that is yet to come, it’s always a lovely opportunity to capture and do justice to the small, morning moments of connection and preparation.

Documentary Wedding Photographer Cotswolds – The Ceremony in Chipping Campden

The ceremony took place at St James’ church, a nearby church in Chipping Campden. It’s a short drive from Norton Grounds and has a lovely Cotswold charm about it with its stone walls, soft light, and a sense of calm. As a destination wedding photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing wedding ceremonies in India, New Zealand and beyond, however there will always be something special about a historic English church. From the interior grandeur to the bells ringing out as Cat and George walked back down the aisle, this was a lovely ceremony to capture.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered outside for the confetti shot. The guests then waved off Cat and George in their vintage car, before heading back to Norton Grounds for the drinks reception. For more on my work as documentary wedding photographer Cotswolds, see my portfolio here.

The Afternoon Reception at Norton Grounds

The rest of the day was spent at the beautiful Norton Grounds, making the most of the expansive outdoor spaces and the lovely autumnal sunshine. Upon arrival back from the church, guests enjoyed drinks in the garden with a background of live music, as the sun came through the clouds. Norton Grounds -a Picturesque Cotswolds Wedding Venue

Norton Grounds is one of those South West wedding venues that makes everything feel easy. The setting is beautiful and the flow between spaces suits a natural, documentary style photography. Set just outside Chipping Campden, it’s a working Cotswolds farm with beautifully converted barns, open courtyards, and on-site accommodation. The venue can be adapted for both small, intimate gatherings and larger celebrations, with plenty of space for outdoor drinks, dining, or a relaxed evening under the festoon lights. It’s an ideal choice for couples who after a peaceful yet stylish setting in the beautiful background of the Cotswolds. See more Cotswolds wedding venues on the Coco Weddings directory, here.

A few words on

Getting married in Devon

Although I grew up in New Zealand, I’ve been travelling over to see my close family in Devon for much of my life and so have always had a bit of a foot in both countries. Admittedly, my opinion may be slightly skewed because I love a country house wedding venue and Devon is full of these (Pynes House and Huntsham Court are some of my all-time favourites to mention a few), but the allure of Devon also lies in its beautiful landscapes.

From its sweeping hills to the dramatic red rock Jurassic coast, there’s always been something pretty special about this part of the world. Along both the North and South Coasts, Devon also has some unique coastal wedding venues – The Grain Store near Torquay in Kingsbridge is one of my favourites and I recently did an incredible Devon summertime wedding there, where the ceremony took place right by the sea. For those who love the idea of a celebration in a national park, a Dartmoor wedding amongst its expansive moorlands and untouched forests can be absolutely beautiful too. Plus, you’ve got Cornwall just next door if you wanted to extend your travels slightly while you’re in this part of the country. All in all, I know I may be biased as a wedding photographer Devon, but Devon has definitely got quite a bit to offer when it comes to getting married in the UK.
